This is a new post I am placing here for use with our current youth project to create a youth documentary for the Susquehanna Valley. This youth documentary (started by the desire of i-180 students to discover the real needs of their peers) will canvas the entire reach of our ministry to discover the spiritual & non-spiritual needs of the students in the Susquehanna Valley. This effort will be compiled into a DVD format and distributed to all youth organizations/ ministries in the valley to help all of us improve our efforts to better the lives of these students.
Please use this thread to post any good ideas/ advice, any opposition you have encountered to this student-led project, or any good experiences you have had as you participate in it.

What kinds of things are students going to be doing for this in their schools? Just polling? It sounds like a good idea!

Here are the ideas so far...
> Survey/ Poll to discover students needs... > Video Interviews to help understand the students current reality... > "A Day In the Life Of" style video to follow around students that are trying to make a difference...
The project is open to any good ideas that the youth come up with, but this is a start. We will also include some of the demographic stats that we received from our recent health report.
I am very excited about this too!

I'm excited too! I think that this could have a great affect on the people in our area. I think it is great that it is not only for our church/youth but for all of them in the valley. I continue to pray for this project.

Hey I got the permission from Pastor Scott, and I will ensure to keep the bad content to a minimum. If you require specifics pm me. I'll probably do what I hear over the course of 3 days, tomorrow, friday, and monday. If I can't remember everything said in 9 periods, I'll break it up and do 3 periods on friday, 3 on monday, and 3 on tuesday.

OH GOSH!!! This is going to be impossible to do accurately or to break into periods due to the huge snatches of conversation. So here's my shot at today.
Pre-Period 1 (7:45-8:05)
(in the cafe)
JC: (comes over to the table with breakfast where everyone is playing Yu-Gi-Oh) Hey what's up Kyle? Kyle: Ah nothing much. (Devon walks over) Kyle: Hey he challenged me. (referring to the kid he was deulling) (Matt walks in 5 minutes later) Matt: Hey. JC: Hey. We've been infested early (referring to the card players) Matt: Ah that's okay. I don't mind standing, Codi on the other hand... (Matt goes to get breakfast, he comes back, we eat until Codi comes in, I totally forget whatever we talked about. Oh wait I know there were a few bad Sean Connery and Chuck Norris jokes.) Codi: Come on, we're migrating. (Me, Matt, and Codi move to the right) JC: What's with the change in migration patterns? Codi: There's people at that table. JC: Oh. JC: You guys shoulda been there at youth last night! They gave us "the talk". It was hilarious. Matt: Heh heh. I can imagine. Oh I know what I want for Christmas! A My Little Pony Glue Factory! Codi: (sings) My little pony, my little pony, I'm gonna turn you into glue... I can see it with the little conveyor belt and all the horses lined up in a row. JC: What do they make glue out of anyway? Matt: Uh, horses... JC: I know but how? Codi: They probably squish it up (puts hands together) and then run it through a belt. Matt: I got that in an e-mail... There were 10 other Hard to Get Toys for Christmas, but I forget. Codi: I want a shave me Elmo. Power up the razor and shave the fur off so it grows back... Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia! Matt: Ya know Relient K has a song about horses being turned into glue... Codi: I feel sorry for poor Barbaros (I think that was what Codi said). JC: Who the heck was that? Matt and Codi: You don't know who Barbaros is? You deserve to be shot. Codi:He was the horsey that stole America's heart. JC: Which would explain all the happy faces I saw today... Codi: It didn't happen recently! It happened a long time ago. The nation wept. JC: I see the tear marks. Codi: Well not me personally. But nah he was a horsey who was gonna win the Triple Crown. JC: What's the Triple Crown? Codi: It's a series of three races. The Kentucky Derby and 2 others I don't care about. But he was due for a race but he broke through the gate. Then he was getting back in but halfway through the second try he was limping and hopping up and down cause race horses weren't made for 3 legs. So they got him better and they turned him into a stud horse (smacks hands together). He was gonna be fine but then he got a disease and they had to kill him. Matt: I like the way you explained stud horse. JC: Musta made some great glue. Codi: Oh yeah. (announcer voice) You remember how fast he ran? Just think about how fast this glue will dry! Now take my tray up. JC: No way. Get it yourself. Codi: Do it now *****! JC: Screw you. (We then begin to walk to our separate homerooms shoving each other into walls walkin down the hallway... Well mostly me being pushed.)
Homeroom to Period 2(8:10-9:00) This is my Tech class. No talkin since it's independent study. I'm in with Seth Kibler, but like I said, independent study.
More will follow later... for now I'm all typed out.

Periods 2-3 (English and Spanish, 9:00-10:23)
Some random person: Oh wow this test is gonna take all period... Basically we took a really long test on Antigone, and someone was sitting in my seat so i got confused. nothing in that period.
Period 3
(Walks in) Teacher: Why do kids keep writing on my chalkboard... (I go sit in my seat in the corner)(kids including Codi file in) Codi: So'd you study for your test today? JC: Huh, what? There's a test??? Codi: Oh sure act like ur gonna fail... JC: I haven't looked at the words! Oh wait... I have. Want me to quiz you? Codi: Sure... (We quiz without incident) Teacher: Ok put your books away. Codi: Think you could leave your test out? JC: No. (We take the test) Teacher: Ok, your homework is to copy Paso 3 vocab. JC: Do we have to do that? Codi: No, not really. JC: Ok then. (time passes) Chips (a different Cody, note the y): So J.C. what do you do all the time? JC: Umm... mostly play video games and study... Chips: You need to get a job. JC: No, I need to get a life. Chips: No seriously. JC: I would if I could, but noone will hire me. I'm 15. Chips: Go up to Country Cupboard and ask to be a dishwasher. JC: Yeah... Have no clue how I'd go back and forth everyday though. Chips: Well yeah. (time passes) Teacher: If any of you would like to see your grades I've got them up here. Codi: You got done first so urs is gonna be at the bottom of the pile. (time passes) Codi: I got a B! JC: What the heck??? Have you been reading the book or something? Codi: I don't know! But I got a B! Teacher: Here's yours (talking to me). JC: Yay a 100. Teacher: Now you actually read the directions and did what you were told... JC: (Since everyone else wasn't penalized for what they did) That means bonus, right? Teacher: No, sorry. Codi: Like you need it. Codi: Hey do you wanna listen to the music on my cell phone? JC: Oh no... that's with all the rap on it, isn't it? Don't play it! Codi: Oh come on (singing to the songs) I see you windin and grindin up on the pole... You see me looking at you and you already know... I wanna hug you, and **** you... (switches) I like the cocaine... Oh I like the cocaine... JC: You're unbelievable... Codi: I wanna play this... but I'd get in trouble... JC: Do it! Blast it and say your finger slipped. Codi: No... JC: Come on... Flip it on a sec and then be like "OH CRAP!" and shut it off.
Ok... this is insane. I can't do this anymore... maybe more tomorrow... maybe.
P.S... I had the "I wanna **** u" song stuck in my head all day... it was horrible.
P.P.S. This has been updated, with correct lyrics and two additional conversation snatches. Still figuring out if I'll ever have the guts to type another piece.

It has just occurred to me how truly blessed I am to be able to attend a Christian school. Thanks for all the effort to enlighten us JC.

Glad to be of help. I'd heard that it was as bad at yours though. Oh and I don't think I'll be doing this anymore... maybe I'll enlighten you on the movie project, but I won't be doing this... It's too much work to type.
P.S. Keep in mind this was only 2 hours, with some stuff forgotten.
P.P.S. I do have other friends besides Codi but they're just the ones I see most.

I understand that it is had to type so much, but it is really good for those of us who have never gone to a public school. It reminds me of a camp that I went to for a week.
