What do you mean by "nightmares and stuff like that"?

depending on the child's age they could very well have nightmares, be scared to be alone or just flat out scared all the time. There is also the spirit of fear who tries to com up and attack every one and make us all scared and watching something like that would invite him right in. Remember just because someone is a Christian doesn't' mean a demon cant attack a Christian it means that they are scared of the Christian. But they will attack you all the more for being a Christian to try and take you down. Because they know what Christians can do. So they are fearful of the authority you have in Christ so they will attack as much as possible. Its almost like for example you see a cute little dogie (or kitty) and open the door to let them in cause you see no harm bu as soon as that door is open just a little that dog or cat becomes a ferocious beast and starts chewing on your leg and you cant get it off unless you call your Father for help. like with certain movies and diff. stuff you see it harmless and so you open up the "door" and let "it" in and then the demons are attacking you and wont stop unless you bind them in the name of Jesus Christ and cast them into the abyss and bind up retaliating spirits and bring them before the foot of the cross and command them to go where Christ sends them in the name of Jesus. and you must say it with authority. and COMMAND them to go immediately and as fast as they can.

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (all the ...s are me trying to figure out how to phrase the following) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (boy this is gonna come across badly) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (Ok here goes nothing... that won't get me killed) ... ... ...
We really need to have a discussion on the whole aspect of demons and spiritual warfare. I consider that you take it far too literally, and I know you consider that I take it far too lightly and treat it with not nearly the respect that it deserves. So... that's all I can think of for now. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Yeah.

Didn't really start out as an argument, or at least that wasn't my intention. THis one was more like an area to kick around theories, trade experiences, thoughts, not really as a debate thing.

Maybe this topic should go back to being about the culture?

O.K. here's a new one. How can we do anything about this?
The media permeates the culture. The church will never have that much circulation. And how can we convince people to choose Jesus over what everyone else is telling them to? How do we show them that Jesus is the real thing they're searching for, while everything else is just a substitute? It's like you're suddenly shoved into the busiest, roughest market place in the world, with 10,000 merchants and 20,000 muggers, who all want your money. They're all shouting, "I'm the best!", "Follow me, I'll get you out of this rathole!", or just grabbing hold of you, pawing. You're completely disoriented, totally confused, and you're willing to go along with some of them just so they leave you be. What would it take to show you the 1/30,000 that you needed to go to?
That's kind of what it's like to live in today's society, and with the false teaching that all 30,000 are equal, it's even worse. Many people they seek advice from are just as blind and lost as they are. It's our task to go and help them sift through the confusion and find God. How are we supposed to do it?
If you go for surface value, the church can't compete with the world. They've outdone us in entertainment, circulation, volume, and most of the time they beat us for the first appeal. Just curious on what you guys should think be done.

If you go for surface value, the church can't compete with the world. They've outdone us in entertainment, circulation, volume, and most of the time they beat us for the first appeal. Just curious on what you guys should think be done. True enough but we have somethings to offer that other religions and the media don't, we have joy and peace and all the other fruits of the Spirit! (or at least we should) People look at our lives and if we are living like Christ (or as close as earthly possible) they see the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. These are things that are hard to come by in the world and when people see other people who are joyful, loving, etc. they generally wonder why. But above all the other fruits love really gets the point across. 1 Corinthians 13 1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. One more thing that we have on our side (the most important) is God, if He wants people to be influenced by our fruit He will have them be influenced.

O.K. here's a new one. How can we do anything about this? Choose your battles carefully. While Christians in our nation continue to butt heads with people, the true meaning of our faith is lost to the masses. The whole merry Christmas vs. Happy holidays just irks me. Not because people are saying the latter, but because of the big stink people are making over a choice of words. Our culture is no different. If they are accepting and promoting things that seem logical, it makes no sense for us to butt heads with it, only to show the love of Christ while living our own values. Creating conflict does not solve anything except to create more conflict.

Yeah you've got a good point. I didn't even know there was a HH vs. MC controversy until I heard someone complaining about it. There's no reason to complain about HH more than commercialism, some of the gifts available, or any of the more important things happening at Christmas, a time we Christians should be spreading peace more than anytime, even if a few grumpy old men throw snowballs at carolers.

Yeah we should be spreading peace and joy, but so many times we get just as caught up in the hussle and bussle of the shopping. It would be great if we could just cut out the stress.

Kinda hard to do with the way things are today. Now if we cut out the pursuit of gifts, and didn't have 5 year olds beginning their wish lists on 12-26 of the last year, we might have an easier time with that.

Cutting the pursuit of gifts would cut out some of the stress involved. This year was the first year I gave my parents a list of approved gifts, but they still found some stuff for me on their own.
