You all know there's a verse of the day on the main page, right? Well I was looking at today's and I'm a bit confused, although that's probably just because it's 6:40. So could you guys clear it up a bit? And maybe we could do a discussion on the verses every day or somethin? (We need a serious topic on here: Wednesday, May 23 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored. As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man. Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man. The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives. Proverbs 27:17-21 NIV That's the part I'm confused on. How does praise test a man? Is it saying that the praise he receives is his mark on the test?

It's probably what the response is to the praise. Who knows.

I'm thinking it has to do with how he responds. But its also probably right that the praise is his mark on the test. Cool passage.

Well how about you share your awesome reserves of knowledge? Really, if you know something you should help people when they ask for it, not begrudge them insight and sit on it like a throne. Unless it's during a test... but that wasn't one.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA fool. i knew what it was as soon as i looked at it its not hard, i just wanted to find out how long it took you to figure it out. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA took YOU guys long enough, wait, none of you even got it! "It's probably what the response is to the praise. Who knows." I'm pretty sure I got it, but poking fun at people while talking about the bible is very childish and not a great witness.

And you have no authority whatsoever to mock others or take that personally... Chill out, calm down, dismount the high horse, and take a deep soothing breath.

There is no human being on this planet who cannot be corrected by another human being. If you were above correction, you would be GOD. Just a guess, but I don't think you've quite made it there yet.
"A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise." ~Proverbs 15:2
"He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored." ~Proverbs 13:8
"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid." ~Proverbs 12:1
"He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray." ~Proverbs 10:17

That was directed at Tommy (who has apparently deleted all his posts) awhile back. This thread was originally about the verses that popped up on the youth website. Speaking of which, I found the one today a great encouragement... Then again it could be that I got either no or very little sleep... not sure which.
Thursday, July 12 'Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.' Isaiah 43:18-21

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
