This is a new thread you may enjoy. Everyone knows how much I like (and use) technology. I have, however, been considering its impact on the world. Here is what I would like each person to respond with... 1. The Good: Give one example of the best technological advance/device that has poisitively impacted your own life. 2. The Bad: Give one example of the technological advance/device that has most impacted the world negatively. 3. The Ugly: Give one example of a technological advance/device that just doesn't make any sense. (Remember, pictures speak a thousand words...) ---- For example (and this isn't my final answer ) 1. The Good:The pocket pc Bible is something I use a lot. Having a library of books and resources in my pocket all the time is awesome! I currently have 13 versions of the Bible, 3 commentaries, 2 dictionaries, 6 collections of our church fathers, and many other resources on my Treo. 2. The Bad:This is an obvious one. The infamous "weapons of mass destruction" are one advance that we didn't need. 3. The Ugly:While you may not consider these "ugly" as far as fashion goes, think about using them for a minute. You are covering your eyes and ears, making yourself oblivious to the world around you. You have now reduced your senses to danger, practical jokes, humiliation, etc. to touch and smell alone. The only safe place to use these would be locked in your bedroom at home - and for the price of these, I would rather have a big fat LCD on my wall.

You'll have to click the links, since I'm technologically-challenged. GOOD:http://www.drexel.edu/cchc/studentlife/web_images/Image/vaccine.jpg Vaccines have saved millions of lives. I just regret that in many cases the medical field has turned into an industry BAD:http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://icarosdna.yage.net/plantas/mapachocigarretes.jpg&imgrefurl=http://icarosdna.yage.net/plantas/plants.htm&h=480&w=640&sz=67&hl=en&start=6&tbnid=4_5VufGS2oWcUM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev= Cigarettes and any other addictive substances... or activities. They steal lives before they kill them and wreck anything around them. Thank you mass production and the information age -.- UGLY: www.runescape.comI'm in love with an abomination *cuddles his level 90 ranged*

I had to think a while about my choices because a lot of technology can be good or bad depending on how it is used. GOOD: I use a portable DVD player in my bedroom to watch school DVDs especially science. Then I don't have to bother my family. BAD: I tryed really hard to think of something else I really think is bad but I just have to agree with TVs. UGLY: That is not a useful cell phone. I'll have more later.
